Last updated: 12 June 2026
1. About SpeakKit
SpeakKit is a speech and language therapy support platform designed to assist authorised users with speech practice, therapy activities, recording, review, analysis, visual feedback, and progress monitoring.
SpeakKit supports therapy and practice. It does not replace clinical judgement, diagnosis, or advice from a qualified Speech and Language Therapist or other appropriate professional.
2. Who May Use SpeakKit
You may use SpeakKit only if you are authorised to do so. Users may include therapists, therapy assistants, patients, parents or carers, and other authorised professionals involved in therapy, care, education, or service delivery.
You must not access, upload, view, change, or download information unless you have a legitimate reason and appropriate permission to do so.
3. User Responsibilities
- Use SpeakKit only for lawful, appropriate, and authorised purposes.
- Keep your login details secure and do not share your account.
- Only access patient or recording information you are authorised to use.
- Ensure recordings, notes, and data you upload are appropriate and relevant.
- Report suspected unauthorised access or security issues promptly.
4. Recordings And Therapy Data
SpeakKit may process and store audio recordings, video recordings, practice attempts, recording recordings, therapy notes, tags, prompts, training examples, speech analysis outputs, face or lip movement data, reports, transcripts, and account/access information.
This information may be used to provide SpeakKit features, support therapy activities, review progress, provide feedback, maintain security, troubleshoot technical issues, and support authorised clinical or service delivery work.
5. Speech Analysis And Automated Tools
SpeakKit may use computer-assisted speech analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or other automated tools. These tools are intended to support therapy and practice and may not always be accurate. Automated feedback should not be treated as a diagnosis or final clinical decision.
6. Optional Wider Uses
Some uses of recordings and related therapy data are optional and require separate opt-in consent. These may include development and improvement of SpeakKit, professional training and supervision, research and service evaluation, or publicity and demonstrations. You can use SpeakKit even if you decline these optional consents.
7. Confidentiality And Data Protection
SpeakKit will take reasonable steps to protect personal data and confidential information. Data will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection law, including UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 where applicable.
Safeguards may include password-protected access, user permissions, secure storage, access controls, and other technical and organisational measures.
8. Google Sign-In And Google User Data
SpeakKit may let users sign in with Google. When you choose Google
sign-in, SpeakKit requests the standard Google OpenID Connect scopes
openid, email, and profile.
These scopes allow SpeakKit to receive your Google account identifier,
email address, email verification status, display name, and profile
picture.
SpeakKit uses this Google user data only to authenticate you, create or link your SpeakKit account, show your signed-in account name or avatar, apply account permissions, support security and audit checks, and contact you about your SpeakKit account or service where necessary. SpeakKit does not use Google user data for advertising and does not sell Google user data.
SpeakKit stores the Google account identifier, email address, display name, and profile picture URL in its user database so that your account can be recognised on future sign-ins. SpeakKit does not request or access your Google password, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Contacts, or other Google content.
SpeakKit does not share Google user data except where needed to operate and secure the service, comply with law, investigate misuse, or support authorised account administration. Any use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
If you no longer want to use Google sign-in with SpeakKit, you can remove SpeakKit's access from your Google account permissions and contact the SpeakKit service provider or organisation that gave you access to request account deletion or correction.
9. Consent And Authority
If you upload or record information about another person, especially a child or vulnerable person, you confirm that you have appropriate consent or another lawful basis to do so. Accepting these terms does not replace any separate clinical consent, parent/carer consent, school consent, or organisational data processing agreement that may be required.
10. Safeguarding And Legal Obligations
Information in SpeakKit will normally be treated confidentially. However, confidentiality may not apply where disclosure is required because of safeguarding concerns, risk of harm, legal obligations, court orders, professional duties, or regulatory requirements.
11. Access Permissions
SpeakKit may provide different levels of access. Read access may allow a user to view information. Write access may allow a user to create or edit therapy data. Manage access may allow a user to grant access, remove access, or delete important data. Admin access may allow privileged support or recovery access.
12. Service Availability And Accuracy
SpeakKit is under development and may change over time. The service may occasionally be unavailable, incomplete, inaccurate, or affected by technical issues. Users should check important information and use professional judgement.
13. Contact
If you have questions about SpeakKit, data protection, consent, or access to information, please contact the SpeakKit service provider or organisation that gave you access.
